The year of 2014 has been one of the toughest when it comes to auto recall.

When we think about all the auto recalls issued in 2014, one of the most overlooked details is how many vehicles were recalled several times for varied reasons. Unfortunately for many drivers, several recalls are left unaddressed, and potentially serious problems end up never being fixed. Many experts have decided to take a look into the vehicles recalled most often during the past years so that drivers are urged to speed the process of having the potentially dangerous defects dealt with soon enough.

One of the vehicles recalled most often is the Dodge Ram. According to experts the pickup trucks known across the country simply as Ram was recalled ten times since 1990. Last year, 1.2 million Rams were recalled over steering issues.

The Chevrolet HHR was a trendy midsize vehicle sold nationwide between 2005 and 2011. According to experts, this Chevy vehicle was affected by the faulty ignition switch problem that affected millions of others in 2014. Multiple other recalls dealing with everything from air bags and power steering issues have been associated with this model as well. But the HHR is not the only. The Chevrolet Malibu has also been one of the most recalled cars of the year.

In 2014, 6.7 million models of the Malibu vehicles were impacted by recalls in spite of getting to be 2008’s Car of the Year.

While GM has had a very troublesome time with its recalls in 2014, Toyota didn’t stay far behind. Since 1990, Toyota’s Tacoma trucks were recalled en masse. At least 7.3 million of them were affected. The 2010 model was recalled ten times for a variety of issues such as wrong tire size problems or seat belt and air bad defects.

Ford’s Taurus and Dodge’s Caravan were also some of the most recalled vehicles of the past decades. About 7.4 million of the Taurus vehicles were recalled during the past decades while 7.7 million Dodge Caravans were recalled for a series of problems. In 2014, the Caravan was recalled ovver faulty power window switches that could eventually lead to fire incidents.

Ford’s Explorer has also had its share of recalls since 1990. According to experts, 7.8 million of the utility vehicles were recalled for several reasons, including deadly steering problems. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Explorer vehicles were recalled 14 different times. Nearly 2,000 consumer complaints were registered with the federal agency because of these vehicles.

According to experts, the top vehicles recalled most often in the past decades included the Mercury Topaz, the Honda Accord, and the Ford F-150. Out of those models, the Honda Accord was recalled at least 18 times, while the F-150 vehicles was mentioned in 1,349 consumer complaints.
