Nearly 1 Million Cars Impacted By Nissan, Chrysler Recalls

This week has been particularly busy for the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The latest auto recalls issued by the a series of major automakers have been concerning some experts. The increasing rate of auto recalls has been impacting consumers across the country. And if manufacturers do not change the way they develop and work on their vehicles, they are going to continue developing vehicles that do not protect consumers from any potential danger.

The latest auto recall released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration impacts 625,000 vehicles manufactured by Nissan. The manufacturer claims the 2013 through 2015 Nissan Altima vehicles that were manufactured between March 1, 2013 and December 31, 2014 were equipped with secondary hood latches that could bind while in use. As a result, the bind may cause the hood to open unexpectedly if the primary latch fails and the secondary latch was impacted. To prevent the secondary latch from remaining in the unlatched position and ensure the hood won’t be opened unexpectedly, the company issued the recall right away.

According to the federal agency, the recalled vehicles should be inspected and fixed immediately if the issue is identified. Unfortunately for consumers, the company hasn’t released a notification schedule as of yet. To prevent any potential issues, you are urged to contact Nissan as soon as possible to ask more details about the recall if you haven’t been contacted. While the Nissan recall is important because it has impacted thousands of vehicles, another recall issued by Chrysler is also sparking concerns.

Chrysler Auto Recall Impacts Over 300k Vehicles

According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, at least 338,216 vehicles are being recalled by Chrysler. the recall campaign is associated with the vehicles’ fuel pump. Since the fuel pump relay inside the cars’ Totally Integrated Power Module may suddenly fail, the vehicle’s engine may stall unexpectedly.

The auto recall impacts all units of the 2012 and 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured between September 17, 2010 and August 19, 2013 as well as the 2012 and 2013 Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured between January 18, 2011 and August 19, 2013. To prevent accidents that could stem from an unexpected engine stall, the company is going to contact consumers with the recalled Chrysler vehicles. All units will be inspected at dealerships where the fuel pump relays will be replaced for free.

Whenever you’re impacted by an auto recall, make sure to respond to the automaker and make sure that the defective vehicles are fixed immediately. Staying on top of NHTSA reports can help to avoid accidents caused by defective equipment.
