At least two major automakers have launched recall campaigns over the weekend.
The two recall campaigns were reported by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While one of the campaigns impacts new units that may still be stored away at dealerships, thousands of others are being currently driven by U.S. motorists across the country.
The first recall announcement has been launched by Chrysler. According to the automaker, over 5,000 vehicles have been linked to the latest recall campaign. Since the vehicles may put you in danger due to the fact the equipment issue may lead to an accident, the recall was deemed necessary.
The vehicles impacted include the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango units that were manufactured between June 12, 2015 and June 20, 2015. Since these vehicles may have experienced a manufacturing error, the rear lower control arms may experience fractures and, as a result, the vehicle may go through a change in rear end stability, ride height, or the vehicle may experience reduced braking capabilities. Because these issues may arise unexpectedly, an accident may occur.
Drivers who own one of these vehicles are being urged to stop using the vehicles immediately. Chrysler has indicated that impacted vehicle owners are being contacted. Once the vehicle owners are reached, they should be able to schedule a visit to an authorized dealership where their vehicles are going to be inspected and the affected rear lower control arms will be replaced. The repair should be carried out for free.
The official campaign is being scheduled to take place on August 10, 2015.
According to the NHTSA, it’s important that drivers who have been impacted by this recall are not driving their vehicles until they are fully repaired. When the time has come for the vehicles to be inspected and fixed, the company should be able to tow the cars to the authorized dealers for the repairs.
Ford’s Recall Impacts Nearly 200k Vehicles Nationwide
The second recall campaign launched over the last few days impacts Ford vehicles.
Over 180,00 units of vehicles have been linked to the latest Ford campaign. According to the official announcement, Ford Motor Company has launched the recall to make sure all 2014 and 2015 Ford Escape and Transit Connect vehicles are fixed and drivers are not exposed to any accident risks.
According to the recall report released by the federal regulators, the vehicles come with instrument panel clusters that could become inoperative due to a software incompatibility. A problem that would make accidents more likely since drivers won’t be warned of safety-related problems associated with the tires or disabled air bags. To avoid accidents or personal injuries, consumers are going to be contacted by the company. Once they are contacted, they should be able to have the vehicles inspected at authorized dealers where the instrument panel software will be updated for free.
While impacted car owners are only going to be contacted by Ford in August, consumers with any concerns related to this recall campaign should reach Ford immediately to learn more about the risks associated with the vehicles.
