Competition Yamaha Motorcycles Recalled Over Crash Risk

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is not in the business of reporting vehicle recalls, but every now and then, it does. The latest vehicle recalls the CPSC has announced involved certain motorcycles manufactured by Yamaha that could expose riders to major auto accident risks that could even result in serious personal injury.

The official announcement was issued after the Japanese manufacturer Yamaha learned that the engines these vehicles were fitted with could lock up unexpectedly. The engine failure could then lead to an accident since the engine lock-up may happen while the vehicle is in use.

According to the company, all units of these vehicles were affected, and riders should not ride the motorcycle until the problem has been addressed.

The official announcement claims that the Yamaha competition off-road vehicles of the 2015 year make and model numbers YZ250FFL and YZ250FFW were impacted by this recall. If you have a 2015 competition off-road vehicle by Yamaha and you believe you were affected by the recall, you can check the model numbers on the left and right side of the rider’s fuel tank cowling. Also, consumers may identify their bikes are the 2015 year make if they find the letter F in the 10th position of the motorcycle’s VIN number.

Consumers with the recalled motorcycles should make sure they are contacting Yamaha to have the vehicle inspected and repaired for free. If you have any concerns associated with this recall, do not hesitate to contact the manufacturer as soon as possible. Units that were impacted were sold to consumers across the nation between May 2014 and November 2014.

Since the company has indicated that all impacted consumers are going to receive notices via the mail, you should keep your eyes peeled for the announcement letter. If you were affected and you do not receive this letter promptly, contact the company to ask further details regarding this recall right away.

Whenever you’re affected by an auto recall, make sure to contact the manufacturer as soon as possible so you can have the issue addressed. Too often, people are severely and even deadly injured in car accidents in California because they did not respond to a recall campaign or were not aware that their vehicles had been impacted by a recall campaign. Do not let this problem happen to you by staying on top of all auto recall news and responding to them when affected immediately.
