Auto accidents caused by negligence, distraction, or intoxication continue to claim too many lives in California. According to a series of reports, two motorists were unfortunately injured in an accident that happened early Monday in Sacramento. The California Highway Patrol claimed the accident took place on Highway 50 and that the injuries were unfortunately deadly.

The reports show that a 61-year-old driver behind the wheel of a Kia Sorrento and the 50-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Silverado collided head-on on Highway 50 at Interstate 5. According to the CHP officers who responded to the scene, the 61-year-old driver unfortunately died at the scene while the 50-year-old was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but was later declared dead as a result of his wounds.

While two motorists were fatally injured, the driver of a third vehicle involved in the crash only suffered minor personal injuries.

The accident took place on the eastbound lanes of the Highway 50. After the accident, the road was closed for several hours until the vehicles involved were cleared. Reports indicate that it’s still too early to know just what caused the three-vehicle accident, nevertheless, no factors are being ruled out just yet.

According to CHP, there’s a possibility that the deadly accident stemmed from a prior collision.

The authorities are looking for any witnesses who are willing to step up and talk about the accident. Unfortunately for those involved in this accident, lives were taken as a result.
