Do Not Ignore This BMW Recall

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has recently indicated that thousands of its vehicles are being recalled over a possible accident risk. The recall was issued along other recalls, including two others we have already reported on earlier in the week.

The impacted vehicles include the 328xi Gran Turismo, 335xi Gran Turismo, the M235i Coupe, 320i, 320xi, 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi, the 228i Coupe, the ActiveHybrid 3, 328xi Sports Wagon, the 428i Coupe, 428xi Coupe, 435i Coupe, 435xi Coupe, 428i Convertible, 428xi Convertible, and 435i Convertible models of the 2014 year make as well as the 428i Gran Coupe, 428xi Gran Coupe, and 435i Gran Coupe vehicles of the 2015 year make.

The problem associated with the recall issued by BMW is the same that prompted the Nissan recall earlier.

According to BMW, the nickel plating of certain components within the fuel pumps may have been done improperly. As a result, the fuel pump may fail and the vehicle may experience an engine stall. The unexpected stall may lead to an accident.

BMW has announced that it will be contacting all impacted vehicle owners. Until then, consumers should stay on top of the news to know more about how other recalls may impact them.

If BMW does not contact you and you own one of the vehicles impacted by the recall, make sure to contact the automaker to obtain more information on this campaign.

Once the vehicles are inspected at authorized dealers, specialists will have the fuel pumps replaced entirely for free.

At least 18,054 units of these vehicles were recalled. The official announcement can be read here.

Whenever you’re affected by a recall that is associated with a safety problem, make sure you contact the manufacturer to have the vehicle inspected and fixed promptly. Waiting to be involved in an accident before you have the issue addressed could lead to a series of problems that could even increase the risk of an accident.
