According to a series of news reports, the auto recalls continue to pour in as 2015 unfolds.
The latest recalls issued by major automakers include two released by Nissan and other two campaigns launched by Ford. Experts have already indicated they estimate 2015 should be much worse for auto recalls than 2014 was.
The first two recalls issued by Nissan involve thousands of vehicles sold worldwide as well as nationwide. The Nissan Rogue SUVs from the year makes 2008 through 2013, as well as some Rogue Select SUVs from the 2014 year make have been impacted by the first recall issued by Nissan.
The issue with the more than 552,000 vehicles is associated with the driver’s side carpet and its proximity to certain wiring harnesses. According to the report, the vehicle may end up becoming exposed to possible electrical shorts since the wiring harness may be exposed to salty water. If it seeps through the driver’s side carpet, the electrical short risk becomes more likely.
The recall campaign was launched after several reports of shorts came to light. While incidents occurred with the impacted vehicles, no fires or personal injury occurrences were registered. The company has indicated that the recalled vehicles will be inspected and fixed for no cost to the owners.
The second Nissan recall has been announced around the same time. At least 216,000 units of the 2013 and 2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles, 2013 and 2014 Infiniti JX35s, and 2014 QX60s were listed. The company claims the secondary hood latch in these vehicles could remain open even as the hoods remain closed. This issue could cause the hood to come open if the main hood is released unexpectedly. This problem could affect the vehicles while their are in use, thus increasing the risk of major accidents.
While some hoods have been known to have been damaged already, no accidents have been reported so far. All impacted SUVs should have their hood release mechanism replaced so that accidents are avoided. The fix should be made available for free.
Thousands of Vehicles Impacted By Ford’s Latest Auto Recalls
One of the recalls involves 16,000 units of the 2014 Transit Connect small vans sold nationwide in the United States. This particular auto recall was issued because the seat belt fasteners could suddenly loosen. This problem will prompt seat belt malfunctions. A possible collision could result in personal injury if the seat belts are not working correctly.
Other vehicles impacted by a new Ford recall involve the 2010 through 2013 Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, and Police Interceptor vehicles sold across the country. The door latch spring these cars were fitted with could suddenly become unseated. If that takes place, the door may unlatch in the event of a side-impact crash. While no accidents were reported in association with this auto recall, the company will have the latches replaced promptly and for free to have this issue addressed.
