GM, Ford Vehicles Impacted By Recalls

According to a series of news reports, the number of auto recalls continues to increase.

As the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration looks into reopening probe into the Jeep vehicles that may catch fire when involved in a rear-end collision, other major brands launch recalls that affect vehicles that could expose consumers to personal injury risks.

One of the recalls impacts certain GM vehicles modified to be fitted with Trans-Air add-on compressor mount kits. The impacted vehicles include the 2006 through 2014 GM G3500 and G4500 units that come with the kits. You may identify them by the part numbers 4012506-01, 4012506-02, 4013126-01, 4013126-02, 4013235-01, 4013235-02, 4012909, 4013125, 4013222 and 717173. All of these kits could expose the vehicles to issues associated with the power distribution terminal.

Since the system may not have been reconnected properly after the compressor was installed, the connection may be loose or poor, increasing the strip to arc or overheat while in use, increasing the risk of a possible vehicle fire.

Trans-Air is contacting all impacted vehicle owners to have this issue addressed. Once the vehicles are inspected, the the power distribution terminal strip connection will be corrected if needed. If you have questions or concerns related to this recall, contact Trans-Air.

Ford Recalls Over 300,000 Vehicles

The most concerning announcement issued by the NHTSA involves Ford and Lincoln vehicles. According to the announcement, Ford Motor Company has recalled all units of the 2012 through 2014 Fiesta vehicles and all units of the 2013 and 2014 Ford Fusion as well as the Lincoln MKZ vehicles. These vehicles come with door latches that may have been manufactured or assembled with certain latches that could fail.

Since this issue could cause the doors to fail to stay latched, the driver and the passenger may be exposed to personal injury risks. If they believe the door is closed but it becomes unlatched while the vehicle is in use, accidents may also occur.

Ford has indicated that all impacted vehicle owners are going to be contacted promptly. Once the vehicles make their way to dealerships, the staffs should be able to replace all four door latches with improved parts so the issue is finally addressed and the vehicles do not pose any risks to any driver or passenger.
