Motorcycle, Truck Models Impacted By Recalls

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been working hard on reporting all of the recall campaigns issued recently by auto and truck manufacturers across the country.

For car, motorcycle, and truck owners, safety should come first. Recall campaigns often impact vehicles that would otherwise be perfectly safe, exposing drivers and riders to risks that could have been prevented.

The latest recalls include a recall campaign focused on trucks manufactured by Mack and another recall carried out by KTM North America. While none of the campaigns are associated with any accidents so far, it’s important that consumers are aware of the risks. Crashes could occur due to equipment failure. That’s why recalls cannot be ignored.

Motorcycle Recall Linked to Accident Risk

According to the NHTSA, KTM North America, Inc. has recently indicated that the 2015 Husqvarna FE 350 S and FE 501 S motorcycles are now being recalled. The bikes were manufactured between July 22 and 23 of 2014. The units impacted by this particular recall were affected by an issue with the connection between the bike’s piston rod and fork cap. Since the connection may not have been sufficiently tightened, the piston rod may end up becoming struck within the fork leg. This issue could lead to an accident simply because the the front suspension may malfunction once the piston rod becomes detached. That problem will cause the motorcycle to destabilize and an accident will take place.

The motorcycle owners are being contacted immediately so they know that there’s an issue with the equipment. Impacted consumers should take their motorcycles to authorized Husqvarna dealers where the torque of the fork piston rod will be inspected. Any possible issue identified will be corrected entirely for free.

While the recalled vehicles haven’t been involved in any crash as of yet, consumers who may have something to report should contact the NHTSA immediately. The official recall announcement can be found here.

NHTSA Alerts Drivers of Latest Truck Recall

The second recall impacts a series of trucks.

According to the federal agency, the 2010 through 2015 LEU vehicles are being recalled over an issue associated with the vehicle’s exhaust pipe. Because the pipe may become disconnected from the muffler/catalyst while the vehicle is in use, the operator may become exposed to high carbon monoxide levels. This issue could lead to serious personal injury.

According to Mack Trucks, the vehicles impacted were manufactured between May 14, 2009 and February 14, 2014. All units of the recalled units were fitted with Cummins ISL engines.

Truck owners with the recalled vehicles should contact the company for more instructions. Nevertheless, the company will only be contacting impacted consumers in late April with a remedy for this issue. Any accidents involving any of the recalled Mack trucks should be reported to the NHTSA.

Never ignore a recall campaign that affects a vehicle you drive regularly since it could put in a very dangerous situation.
