The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been just as busy as it was during the countless recalls of 2014.
The latest two recall campaigns launched with the help of the NHTSA include a BMW and a Hyundai recall. The first announcement affects all units of the 2015 428i Convertible, 428i xDrive Convertible, 435i Convertible, and 435i xDrive Convertible vehicles. All units of the recalled cars were manufactured between October 22, 2014 and February 27, 2015.
The impacted vehicles have been recalled because of an issue that could lead to personal injury.
According to the federal agency, the driver’s front air bag deployment timing may end up being incorrect due to a programming error. Since that could lead to personal injury in the event of an accident, the company issued the recall. The NHTSA has reported that the issue represents a failure to comply with important federal requirements.
To prevent personal injuries and prevent the programming error from becoming harder to fix over time, consumers with the recalled vehicles are being reached by BMW. Once they are notified about the recall, dealers will have the air bag control module reprogrammed with a corrected version of the software.

Hyundai Recall Could Pose To Fire Risks
The second recall campaign launched by the NHTSA impacts all units of the 2014 and 2015 Original, Composite, Composite XT, HyCube, and Dolly trailers. These vehicles have been fitted with Haldex Life Seal Type 30/30 Long Stroke Air Brake Actuators. Since the trailers may experience a sudden brake drag stemming from an improperly seated diaphragm present in the brake chamber, the drag will cause the wheel end to experience a fire.
The fire could expose occupants to an accident risk.
Hyundai Translead has announced that consumers with the recalled vehicles should be contacted soon. In spite of the announcement, a notification schedule wasn’t readily available.
Once the vehicles are inspected at dealers, the staff will have potentially defective actuators replaced for free.
