The latest food recall issued by a major manufacturer involves over 240,000 cases of very popular Macaroni & Cheese products.

According to a series of news sources, Kraft Foods Group Inc. has issued a recall that impacts all units of the cases of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese dinners that come with the manufacturing code “C2” and that were sold with the “best when used by” dates ranging from September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015.

The products are being recalled because they may contain metal fragments. Since this issue is particularly troublesome to consumers who may not realize the product has been tainted, the company issued the recall promptly.

According to experts, this problem could cause some trouble for the company that is being faced with fierce competition from other brands. But this problem is not only concerning for Kraft because of the competition. It’s also troublesome because a similar recall was issued four years ago.

At the time, Kraft recalled over 137,000 cases of Velveeta Shells & Cheese single-serve cups after the company learned that the product may have been packaged with thin wire bristle pieces. The most recent recall does not affect the same products.

Kraft is urging consumers with the 7.25-ounce packs of “original” flavor Macaroni & Cheese to stop the consumption of the items immediately. They should have the remaining products returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The company has issued a statement apologizing for its failure to ensure its products are ready for consumption. The recall was issued after eight consumers contacted the company to complain about the presence of the metal fragments inside of the packaging.

Impacted units were sold as solo items or as part of three-, four-, and five-pack boxes.

While the reports of incidents were registered, no personal injuries were reported. Consumers with the recalled products should not wait until they are injured to have this issue addressed. Make sure to have the products returned immediately so problems won’t expose consumers to health risks.
