According to a series of news reports, Ford has just added a greater number of its vehicles to a list of recalled cars impacted by certain issues experiences in colder parts of the country. The most recent Ford recall impacts 487,301 vehicles. The models listed under the recall include the 2013 through 2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ as well as the 2015 Ford Edge vehicles.While the impacted vehicles were originally sold or registered in particular states, the company decided to launch the recall with the help of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The vehicles come with certain electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts that could be exposed to road salt or other contaminants, which could then corrode essential parts. As a result, the steering gear motor may come detached from the gear housing, increasing the risk of a loss of power steering assist. Due to the problem, drivers may end up being required to use a higher steering effort to maneuver the vehicle, especially if it’s traveling at lower speeds. The vehicles were manufactured between September 15, 2014 and February 10, 2015. The vehicles could experience certain issues in cold temperatures. Since the occupant detection system may fail to determine whether there’s a child safety seat installed in the front passenger seat, the air bag may be deployed in the event of an accident. Failure to be deactivated may increase the risks of children experiencing personal injury in the event of a collision.

Hyundai has claimed all impacted vehicle owners are being contacted to have the ODS software inspected and replaced. The replacement should be made entirely for free. While the recall announcement was issued by the NHTSA, the official notification campaign should begin in June.
