Serious Crash Risks Prompt Chrysler to Launch Two Recalls

Many of us believe recalls are not all that important, after all, automakers launch so many recalls regularly that it would be impossible to keep up.

But the reality is that recalls matter and if drivers completely ignore them, accidents and injuries may ensue.

The latest announcements issued by Chrysler impact thousands of vehicles nationwide. The company recalled several trucks and other vehicles over the last couple of days due to problems that could lead to accidents.

The first recall announcement is associated with 43,750 units of the 2006 Dodge Viper and Jeep Wrangler and Liberty vehicles. The units impacted were manufactured between July 1, 2005 and July 31, 2006. The units come with certain springs that may cause the clutch pedal to break. As a result, the vehicle may move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of an accident.

The firm has stated that Chrysler will be contacting all impacted vehicle owners in June 2015. Until then, consumers should call Chrysler to have any further concerns addressed. According to Chrysler, a second notification should be sent to consumers once the remedy is made available to all impacted units.

The official announcement can be found here.

The second recall announcement issued by Chrysler also impacts thousands of vehicles, but the issues are different. According to the reports, the 2015 Ram ProMaster City vehicles that were manufactured between November 6, 2014 and March 17, 2015 were fitted with certain air bag inflatable curtains that may fail to deploy correctly. As a result, the devices fail to comply with important federal requirements. According to the announcement issued by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem could cause occupants to experience personal injuries.

Once consumers with the recalled vehicles are contacted, the trucks should be inspected at dealers. Staff will make sure the installation of the side air bag inflatable curtains will be modified at dealers for free. The official notification campaign should begin in June. If you have been impacted, you’re urged to contact Chrysler immediately to have any further concerns or issues addressed immediately.

To avoid any kind of issues, make sure your car is always repaired once it’s impacted by an auto recall. It may seem counterproductive to stay on top of the recall reports so often, but to avoid injuries, you should not wait until an accident takes place for you to act.

Recalls matter and ignoring them could put you in grave danger. Checking whether your car has been recalled with the help of the NHTSA’s smartphone app could protect you and your loved ones.
