The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been struggling to handle all of the drug recall reports that have been released this year. When it comes to recall announcements, 2014 has been breaking records both in auto and drug recalls.
According to a recent report published by the FDA, Chaotic Labz has reported that its Mayhem dietary supplements are being recalled over a possible health risk linked to the existence of undeclared ingredients. The reports indicate that the bottles of dietary capsules that have been recalled can be identified by their lot number CLM061114 or their expiration date of 06/2016.
The federal agency has indicated that the products, which are used by consumers who are looking for bodybuilding supplements, have been produced with dexamethasone, which is a prescription corticosteroid that is used to treat inflammatory issues. Another ingredient also found in the product that had not been reportedly listed as an ingredient is dexamethasone, a prescription antihistamine, which is used by patients under treatment for seasonal allergies. The main issue with the ingredients is that they are not approved by the FDA, especially because the corticosteroid could expose patients to possible risks associated with impairing their ability to fight infections. Other patients could also be exposed to possible risks associated with high blood sugar levels, psychiatric problems and muscle personal injury.
The unapproved drugs could also lead to a suppression of the adrenal gland in the impacted patients. The issue could then lead to several withdrawal symptoms once the patient stops consuming the drug. Antihistamines such as the dexamethasone ingredient could affect the consumer’s mental alertness as well as cause drowsiness.
According to the FDA’s official report, once taken with other drugs, the potentially harmful ingredients present in the Mayhem dietary supplements could also lead to serious side effects.
All units of the affected products come inside clear bottles. All capsules are yellow and the labels read Chaotic Labz and the words Mayhem, Appetite for Construction. Nutritional Supplement retail outlets across the country have been selling these products.
Consumers with the recalled products are being notified through formal recall letters produced by the company behind this campaign. All units of the recalled products should be returned immediately. Stop consuming the dietary supplements and have the bottles returned to the place of purchase. Any potential health risks associated with the intake of these items should be addressed immediately, so do not hesitate to contact your health care professional right away.
