Several major automakers have launched recalls recently.

According to a series of news reports, the number of vehicles being recalled regularly with the help of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been increasing. Despite the federal government’s efforts to pressure NHTSA to improve its methods of detecting issues that could lead to recalls, a greater number of cars are being linked to these campaigns. Whether more recalls are being issued because of public pressure or because automakers are finally stepping up their game is not necessarily what matters; the important thing is that drivers are safe.

If vehicles leave the factory with equipment problems and nobody identifies the risks, people may suffer injuries. To avoid injuries and ensure your loved ones are safe, you should never ignore an auto recall that impacts your vehicle.

GM, Honda Recall Vehicles Over Injury & Other RIsks

The latest auto recall campaign launched by General Motors impacts 45,785 units of Spark and Sonic vehicles. Impacted units include the 2014 and 2015 Sparks and the 2015 Sonic vehicles. These vehicles were fitted with the base radio and the OnStar system. Since the radio could lock up due to a software issue, the car’s display may go blank unexpectedly. As a result, the audio functions and others may fail. As a result, the driver may not be warned that seat belts must be buckled or that the key is being left behind since the display and audio functions are affected.

If these important functions cease, the driver may leave the key in the ignition or an occupant may forget to buckle up. Because this problem may increase the risk of theft and the risk of injuries, GM launched the recall campaign promptly.

GM has announced that all impacted vehicle owners are going to be contacted. Once the vehicles are inspected at authorized dealers, the staff will be able to update the radio software in order to avoid any problem in the future. The update should be performed for free.

No notification schedule has been provided by GM.

Honda, on the other hand, recalled 106,439 unis of the Acura MDX and MDX AWD vehicles of the 2014 and 2015 year makes over an issue that could increase the risk of accident.

These vehicles, Honda reports, come with air conditioning compressor clutch drive bolts that may not have been produced properly. Since the bolts may have not received the proper anti-corrosion coating, they may corrode over time. As a result, they will break and the compressor clutch plate may come detached from the vehicle. As a result, the device may become a road hazard.

Honda has indicated that all impacted vehicles will have the air conditioning compressor clutch drive bolt replaced. If necessary, a new clutch plate will also be installed. The full recall announcement can be found here.
