The latest major auto recall campaign linked to Takata air bags has been launched by Honda Motor Company.

According to the reports, 4.5 million vehicles have been linked to the recall. Impacted units were sold globally, but Americans are also feeling the backlash.

Takata’s air bags linked to the major recall launched by the car parts manufacturer in the past come with inflators that may rupture and explode mid-deployment. Because parts can impact car occupants as a result, major personal injuries have been reported in the past.

The reports indicate that, since Honda has been associated with deadly Takata air bag-related accidents in the past, the company has been negatively impacted by reports concerning the major campaign. But while this is a major recall effort, it’s not Honda’s first. This year alone, Honda launched three major recalls. The Takata-related campaign is Honda’s third-biggest recall of 2015, but its first since the new president took over.

As pressure to verify whether Honda will continue using the Takata products even after this major problem mounts, Honda refuses to answer. Instead, the automaker prefers to focus on identifying the main root cause behind the inflator ruptures.

According to the company, vehicles impacted by the latest recall were manufactured between 2007 and 2011. Many other vehicles manufactured after that period have also been fitted with the air bag inflators linked to the major Takata recall. Nevertheless, investigations show no reason to worry, Honda reported. In the opinion of Honda officials, these air bags should be safe since no problems were found during the investigations. Despite the major recall campaign launch, Honda says no injuries or deaths were linked to the air bags associated with the latest announcement.
